Genealogy Surprises

When research of family history first became popular, even to the extent that people could now spell genealogy correctly, the topic still did not excite me.

Then, like many others in the country, in 2004 I started to watch the BBC “Who do you think you are?” series. To my surprise, I found the programme both entertaining and educational. It was uplifting to follow the path along with the celebrity as their ancestors and allied histories were revealed.

I was impressed with the demonstrated facilities which exist to aid people in filling voids in their ancestry knowledge. On a personal level I had a veritable black hole in information about my family history. Encouraged by what I was seeing, I decided “Let’s give it a go”.

The following pages chronicle my efforts at genealogy and the surprising results obtained.
